  Let’s Be Friends

  One

“Aaron, it’s better this way. She’ll have plenty to do there without me. I’m on a mission. I’m going to screw those fuckers if it’s the last thing I do.”

Gideon could envision his friend’s face clearly, even though Aaron was at the office and Gideon was in the back of a car on his way to JFK so he could head to Vegas. He’d known that Aaron and Seth would be annoyed that he’d be leaving on an earlier-than-scheduled commercial flight … and they’d be pissed that he left without their office assistant, Shannon. “I can feel you judging me, even from across the Hudson.” Gideon’s eyes met with Justin’s in the rearview mirror just as Justin was rolling his. Gideon laughed.

Justin was the on-call driver for Genesis Inc. the company that Gideon and his two college best friends, Aaron and Seth, had started from the ground up. Justin was well aware of all three of their personal behaviors; his loyalty and the ability to keep his mouth shut had been part of why they’d kept him around since the beginning. Justin knew exactly what Gid was talking about with Aaron; the only difference was that the driver approved of Gideon’s less-than-orthodox lifestyle.

“This is exactly why I didn’t tell you. I knew you’d be an ass about it.”

“She’s crushed Gid. You took us completely by surprise. We didn’t even know you knew how to order your own plane ticket? “

Gideon laughed again. “She is not crushed. Shannon is uncrushable. Give her the keys to the toy closet and she’ll forget about me soon enough. And who said I ordered my own ticket?” Gideon held his breath, waiting for the lashing he knew was coming.

  “Gideon, tell me you didn’t!”

“So what if I did? It’s not like anyone else gives a shit. Plus she gets bored now that I’m grown. She loves learning the computer. I just sent her the new Mac Book Pro. She loves it.”

“The woman is sixty-five years old, and you are a grown man. A grown man doesn’t have his nanny order his plane tickets.”

Gideon felt a little bad, but didn’t want to … so he decided to push it off on his friend. “How would you know? You have parents that gave a shit, and raised you themselves instead of handing you over to the hired help.”

He felt much better as he felt the guilt seep out of his body and into the words he said to his friend, letting them be the vessel that created the silence he was now reveling in.

“Fine. Have it your way. Don’t think I’m going to forget this. Neither will Seth.” Aaron paused and exhaled deeply before continuing. Gideon could picture his friend characteristically running his hand over his face in frustration. “Fuck. You really can be a dick, Gid.”

Gideon nodded in agreement. “Yeah. But its nice to always have something you can count on … isn’t it?” he responded sarcastically before ending the call and putting the phone back into his jacket pocket.

Gideon placed a hundred dollar bill in Justin’s hand. “Thanks, man. I appreciate you coming out so early and covering for me.”

Justin nodded. “Happy to do it.” He set Gideon’s bag on the curb next to his feet. “Bring me back someone from Vegas.” He laughed. “I meant something from Vegas.”

Gideon laughed and shook his head. “No you didn’t.” He picked up his suitcase and started toward the glass doors at JFK. “Don’t let the boys do anything I wouldn’t while I’m away.”

Justin just smiled as he climbed back into the car, eased away from the curb, and into the driving lane.

Gideon headed to the ticket kiosk and checked in before getting in the endless line at security. He loved flying. He had never been more excited than when they’d been able to hire Evan and purchase their very own helicopter. Gideon was no stranger to private jets and helicopter flights—but buying one with money he’d made all on his own without his family’s help, had been a defining moment for him. Gideon was a lot of things, but ungrateful wasn’t one of them. Sure, he seemed cavalier, and his upbringing made people second guess his motives a lot … but he’d promised himself at a young age that he’d make his own life, be his own man. Genesis Inc. was something he was proud of. Truth be told, the fact that it annoyed his ultra conservative parents made it that much sweeter.

Gideon reached the TSA agents and flashed a smile as he tossed his carry-on onto the metal rollers so they could suck his bag through the x-ray tunnel. He took his shoes off and emptied his pockets into the little tray before stepping under the plastic archway to the world. Freedom was out there, just past the government-issued humiliation.

Gideon only flew in the company jet when heading overseas. But when flying domestic, he really didn’t care where he sat as long as he was in the air. He loved the idea of wide-open space and melting through the clouds. Being raised in Texas on a large ranch, it was no surprise that Gid was claustrophobic. It made perfect sense to him.

Gideon twisted his body to accommodate his bag as he made his way down the long aisle. He’d requested a window seat. Finding his row, he felt his lips turn up in a smile as he noticed a head of full dark chocolate brown hair cascading down the back of what looked to be a slender yet shapely woman trying to stuff a bag that was way too big into the overhead compartment that was way too small on the left side of the aisle. “Need a hand?”

Gideon felt his dick stir as the female turned her head and her full mouth, petite nose, and big dark eyes came into view. “Would you mind?” she asked as she stepped to the side, casually brushing against Gideon. She smiled.

Gideon smiled back and took her spot so he could have better leverage to attempt to push the bag into the tiny compartment. He watched as she slid into the seat right below him, which made picturing her on her knees in front of him all too easy. He pushed hard and got the bag to go far enough into the compartment that he thought he’d be able to close the lid. After making sure her side was latched tight, Gid lifted his own bag off his shoulder and slid it with ease into its designated space.

Gideon stood there, silently watching the young woman before him, when a deep voice interrupted the vision of his hands wrapping in her silky hair. “Do you mind? The rest of us would like to get to our seats.”

Gideon had completely forgotten where he was—on a commercial flight, halfway through the cabin, standing in the middle of the skinny aisle. Gid nodded, forcing himself back into the present. “Right. Sorry man,” he casually tossed to the inconvenienced man as he nodded to the brunette to lift her legs so he could get to his seat.

After getting himself settled, Gideon turned his attention to the female on his right. “Sorry about that.”

She looked up and focused on him. “Thank you for helping with my bag.” She put a hand on his arm.

Gideon covered it with his own. “All good. You should pack lighter next time. It is Vegas after all.” He winked. “Doesn’t require a lot of clothes.”

Gideon rubbed his thumb across the woman’s hand. “Headed to Vegas, or is it just a lay-over for you?” Gideon felt himself oozing cheese. He thought he’d even winked. She was gorgeous, and he just winked at her. What the hell was wrong with him?

She giggled. “That’s some line,” she said softly as she moved forward slightly, brushing her breast against his arm.

  Gideo
n’s mouth went dry as he nodded. “Is it working?”

Her giggle turned into laughter that led to a nod. “Yeah, I think it is.”

Gideon made a fist and pulled it back against his side. “Yes. Cheese works.”

The sexy brunette next to him was laughing so hard now that her tits were jiggling, which grabbed his focus. “So, what shall I call you … hmm, maybe Giggles?”

She stopped laughing but left the smile on her face. She watched him, almost expectantly, as she told him, “Lily. And you are?”

Gideon couldn’t help but think that Lily suited her. She was soft in all the right places, but with long fluid lines … and fuck, she was beautiful just like a lily. He lifted his hand off of hers and brought it to his chest. “Me? Who do you want me to be?”

She turned further so she was facing the window instead of the back of the seat in front of her. “I get to pick? How about … “ She put her hand on his knee and slowly moved it up his thigh. “How about Richard?” she asked as she reached his zipper.

Gideon felt his pants tighten. He smiled, shifting so her hand put a bit of pressure against his cloth-confined member. “Only if you suck me, I mean call me Dick.” He stared at her lips instead of her eyes. Eyes held secrets. He wasn’t going down that road. He needed someone to help him take his mind off what—or who—he’d left at home.

He watched carefully as the tip of her tongue peeked out from between her lips and wet them, leaving them shiny and delicious looking. He kept his gaze fixed on her lips as she brought down his zipper and slipped just one finger inside the flap, running it along the main vein in his hardening cock. “Dick, you say?”

“You’re going to have to sit back and put your seatbelt on, miss. You too, sir. We’re about to take off.” The flight attendant tapped the empty headrest of Lily’s seat and moved back to the next row, and the next after that, repeating herself as she went.

Lily let out a deep breath as she pulled her hand from his pants and flattened herself in her seat. Gideon leaned forward and reached across her body, making sure that he brushed his arm against her heaving chest as he took hold of her seat belt and set the one side in her lap before tucking his hand against her other hip and pulling up that side of the belt and setting that in her lap as well. He looked up to her lips, which were slightly parted, her breath coming in and out of them in short bursts. Gid brought his other hand around and nestled the buckle in the sexy ‘V’ where her legs came together before leaning in close to her ear. He snapped the buckle closed as he nipped her earlobe. Gideon applauded himself in his head as Lily moaned.

“Safety first, Ms. Lily,” he whispered in her ear before settling himself back into his own seat and strapping himself in, while thanking the universe for inventing skirts. Once secured, and sure the flight attendant would be pleased with his performance, he turned to the hot and bothered woman next to him.

Her eyes were closed and she was shaking her head. She parted her lips further like she wanted to say something, but Gid watched as she ground herself against the seat instead. “Hold on, sweetheart,” he told her as he watched the flight attendant walk back up the aisle and reach for her microphone. Once she started prattling on about tray tables and oxygen masks Gideon made his move.

He started with a soft touch against her thigh, and when she didn’t stop him but bucked in her seat, he moved his hand to where he really wanted to be—against her core. Her panties were hot and wet against his fingers as he touched her through them, gently moving his fingers against her lips.

Gideon’s cock was rock-hard and threatening to bust out of the space that his released zipper had created. He ignored it and moved Lily’s panties aside while watching her face. Her eyes were still closed, her head thrown back against the headrest. She shifted her legs apart slightly and Gideon impaled her with his finger as the plane shifted when the brakes were let off. “Relax,” he told her quietly, moving his thumb to her clit as the plane started to move down the runway. He rubbed his thumb in circles and moved his finger in and out of her in rhythm with the hum of the engine. Gideon almost laughed when her body tightened and one of her hands clenched its grip on the armrest while she brought the other to her mouth and bit down, hard.

Gideon continued to give Lily all of his attention as they lifted off the ground and into the clouds. Right about when he noticed they’d leveled out in the sky, was when he felt her clench and pulse around his fingers. As she rode the pleasure waves rocking her body, Gid shifted in his seat, he was rock-hard and painfully confined in his pants.

Landing had been much less exciting than taking off, which was odd in a place like Vegas. Normally Gideon was ecstatic to be in the desert city. Las Vegas was his favorite place. But who wouldn’t love it? Big money, bright lights, and smoking hot females. He was very thankful the convention was held there every year; it gave him an excuse to visit.

Gideon pulled his large suitcase behind him and exited the airport where he was pleased to find a car waiting for him. A chill ran down his spine as he approached the young man holding the white board with his name scrawled on it. Gideon turned quickly to try to pin point the source of his discomfort, but instead spotted the responsive Lily. He smiled as his time with her passed through his thoughts. He’d had a great time with her on the plane. She’d made the flight much less dull. After she’d come all over his hand in the seat, they’d found themselves in the tiny bathroom as soon as the fasten seat belt sign had been turned off. Which was why Gideon was completely pissed as the shiver on his spine turned to an icy chill when she locked eyes with him while hugging Kayla Oakley.

“Fucking bitch,” he muttered as he turned back around.

  “I’m sorry sir, I didn’t catch that.”

Gideon tried to rationalize how he could have not realized who she was, but it wasn’t happening. He vaguely realized someone was talking to him. “Huh?”

“I said I’m sorry sir, I didn’t catch what you said before.”

Gideon released Lily from his glare. “No worries man. Talking to myself.” He gave the man the handle to his suitcase and let himself into the passenger seat of the dark car. The guys were going to kill him. He’d come without Shannon with the idea that he’d find a low-level executive from Lily and Oak that wouldn’t know him … and instead he did this. He had to figure out a way to make his monumental fuck-up beneficial, to make it work for them somehow. He looked down at his crotch. It was usually his favorite part of his anatomy, which was saying something because Gid loved every square physical inch of himself—but it was the part that seemed to be getting him into the most trouble lately. “Idiot.”

  “Where to?”

“Bellagio,” he said, pulling his phone from his pocket. The car immediately eased into traffic. He had to text Aaron or Seth and let them know that he’d met Lily. He pulled up their group text and began typing.

HEY. FINALLY MET THE LILY PART OF LILY AND OAK.

He pondered it a moment, and then deleted it.

EN ROUTE TO HOTEL. MISSION AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. MET LILY.

He read that one a few times before hitting send and sitting back to wait.

His partners responded almost immediately. A simple, WHERE? came from Seth, but Aaron was Aaron.

  DO TELL!

Gideon took a deep breath. He wasn’t sure if he should be honest and spin it like he’d done it on purpose, or just be straight up and guarantee them he’d make it work for them even though he was an idiot. He decided on the latter.

STAMPED HER MEMEBERSHIP CARD ON THE WAY HERE.

He held his breath as his finger hit the send button.

He didn’t have to wait long for their responses. His phone began to buzz in his hand, the main office number popping up on his screen. He let out the breath he’d been holding, swiped the screen, and answered as defensively as possible. “I swear to you, I didn’t know it was her. We just kind of clicked … next thing I knew, she was riding me in the bathroom.”

; “You’re an idiot sometimes. You know that?!” Seth asked.

Gideon nodded, but then remembered they couldn’t see him. “I know. But here’s the thing. I think this could work out in our favor.”

“How the fuck did you get to that idea?” Aaron broke the silence.

“Dude. I get you’re pissed. When I saw her with Kayla and figured out who she was I almost shit myself. But I promise, she was totally into me. This is a good thing. I can get the inside track.”

“Did you say anything, anything at all about Genesis Inc.?”

Gideon thought about it for a minute, running the entire flight through in his mind. He was confident. “No. We didn’t talk to each other much, really. I helped her with her bag and then we were fondling and fucking. She must have known who I was, though.”

“Why do you say that?” Seth asked.

“Because when I spotted her with Kayla there was no mistaking the gleam in her eye. She wanted me to know who she was at that point.”

“Well let’s be real, there’s no way that Lily Mason is handing you trade secrets. Her company is at stake. They will go out of business when we crush them in this lawsuit.”

Gideon nodded, forgetting like he usually did while on the phone that people couldn’t actually see him. “Look. I’ve got this under control, I promise. I’m almost to the hotel. We can reconvene tonight. We’ll Facetime and make a plan before I hit the tables.”

“Ten o’clock,” they both told him in unison.

“See you then.” Gideon ended the call and stuffed the phone back in his pocket. He knew he probably had a million emails and texts to go through from his time on the plane, but they’d have to wait. The first fountain had come into view … he was surrounded by his city. Las Vegas was his happy place, and even the threat of financial ruin wouldn’t get him down this weekend. He was going to live it up and party like it was 1999. Although when he thought about it, 1999 was pretty lame for him seeing as how he’d been eight when Y2K failed to make a mess of things.
